August
Hello sunshine!
This summer has been fun and quite busy for me. I love it that way though as that means I am living life to the fullest! In July, I started out by caddying for Grant Fuhr in the Nationwide event in Ontario. He played well but had a couple ‘opps’ shots in there. Hey, we are all human, eh?? The bag was a bit on the heavy side but that could have also been from the large hills that we trudged up and downJ I had a great time though and met many wonderful people, some famous and some who just thought they were!
From there, I went to Mirabel,
My next adventure was a return to BC for a few weeks. I went home to
Back in Penticton, the weather has been very hot…and smoky. There were some heat lightening strikes as well as other causes of forest fires causing the smoke. Many homes were evacuated but I hope everyone is safe now!
The rest of July, I kept very busy practicing and golfing, as well as giving some instruction in a few clinics. For the Junior clinics, I made a video to the song by Miley Cyrus, ‘The Climb’. It has pictures of me growing up as a golfer. The song is very motivational and it worked great for the JR clinics! I even did a logo on some t-shirts and sold them to help raise money for the local JR programs. At the Penticton Golf and Country Club (my home club), I did short-game and full swing clinics with a local pro, Jeff Hollman, for the adults. They were a great deal of fun, and hopefully informative. Thank you to everyone that attended…we hope to do more in the future!
August is the time for the annual Tee Up For Cancer Tournament in Penticton. It is a full field of 144 women who are super supportive of the cause of raising money to go towards purchasing a new MRI scanner at
My last adventure was to Hamilton/Dundas, Ontario, for the CPGA Championship. We played Dundas Valley Golf and Curling club…no we didn’t get a chance to curl. The course was in great shape and it was a very well run event! I finished at even par for the 2 days and was happy with my T13th place finish. Jessica Shepley won the event with 9 under par—congrats girl!! After the event, I got an opportunity to play at Coppinwood GC just north of
I am now back in Penticton for a couple more weeks before heading to Calgary, Alberta, to get ready for the CN Canadian Women’s Open held at Priddis Greens GC. I will be practicing and playing lots. I am excited to be playing in this event and want to thank the RCGA and CN for giving me an exemption!
Next week, I get to see my little niece, Charlotte, I am so excited—yippee!
I hope to talk with you all soon and please let me know if you have any questions.
Many thanks for being a fan!
Love, AJ
